REPORTS AND ASSESSMENTS FOR LEGAL CASES

Legal Background

My name is Claudia Carballal. I work as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-Associate) supervised by Amy Watson, M.S., LPC-S. I obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from SMU Simmons School of Education and Human Development. In 2008, I obtained a Masters in International Law and Human Rights (LL.M.) from SMU Dedman School of Law. Prior to becoming a professional counselor, I worked in the legal field for 13 years with two large Dallas law firms, first as a Paralegal, then as an International Law Associate working on Corporate International Law, International Litigation, and Human Rights cases. Through my legal work, I had the opportunity to collaborate with local attorneys on hundreds of high profile cases and attended mediations, international arbitrations, and litigation in state and federal court

Aside from my legal experience, for more than three decades I have worked on immigration cases and human rights, including supporting immigrants and refugees with their mental health needs through various non-profit organizations like the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, and Mosaic Family Services.
