My name is Claudia. A Yogi, Counselor, and Author.

I work as a Clinical Counselor, Consultant, and Guide on a variety of issues. I am Board Certified as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, USA. I have been a life coach for 12 years.

Why Do I Counsel and Guide People?

In my life journey I felt that I had a natural ability to manage my thoughts and emotions in a healthy way. I noticed that the majority of people struggle to overcome excessive thinking, fears, blockages, and emotions that cause emotional pain and suffering.

I wanted to understand why there is a struggle and what can be done about it. I learned about human psychology, the science of yoga and the mind, and what does it really mean to have a healthy mind.

My discoveries and personal life experiences inspired me to write a book: Yoga Psychology for Mental Health: A Guide to the Wisdom of Eastern Philosophy and Yoga Psychology for Mental Health and Healing. My book is a guide about the sources of Yoga, what is Yoga Psychology, and how it can help you in your life journey.

You have a birthright to know about your own powers, potential, and abilities that can be discovered and developed.

I prepared myself by obtaining a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology in the US. Prior to that, I had been learning Yoga, Meditation, Energy Healing, holistic approaches and natural ways of living.

In 2012, I obtained certifications in Yoga (RYT-200) and Ayurveda Life Coaching in the US. Ayurveda is the system of natural medicine and wholistic healing in India.

From 2017 through 2021, I continued formal training in India each year obtaining additional certifications as Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) and as Ayurveda Lifestyle Consultant with PDI Prakash Deep Institute of Ayurveda and Yogic Sciences.

Resources

Welcome to Claudia Carballal Counseling. I'm prepared to go with you on your journey to healing and find meaning in what's happening in your life.

I'm primarily a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT), meaning that I help you explore your thoughts and core beliefs formed in childhood, with the purpose of uncovering what's not useful, and retain what's useful. Cognitive therapists base their approach on the premise that our thoughts create our emotions and behavior and that there's a way to manage our thoughts to help us gain insight and improve our life and relationships.

I also use Somatic Therapy, which explores how the body expresses deeply painful experiences, applying mind-body healing to aid with trauma recovery. Somatic Therapy may include breathing exercises, guided meditations, and yoga exercises.

I provide bilingual and multicultural counseling for individuals, couples, and families. I have more than three decades of experience helping individuals solve problems -- first as a lawyer in mediations and negotiations, and more recently as a life coach and professional counselor.

I currently see around 35 culturally diverse individuals every week in my work as a Trauma-Focused CBT Clinical Counselor with the Mental Health Program of a human rights organization, and in my private practice Claudia Carballal Counseling.

I have a Masters in Clinical Counseling Psychology and a Masters in International Law and Human Rights from SMU. I have formal training in Yoga and Meditation with internships in India.

In my work as a counselor, I combine approaches of Western psychology and Eastern practices. I'm a proponent of yoga psychology as a tool for emotional healing, freedom from mental pain and suffering, and growth.

I hope I can inspire you to connect with your force within, learn from your experiences, and achieve the growth, peace, and joy that you want.
